Copper rises on firm global trend
Copper prices strengthened by Rs 2 per kg on the non-ferrous metal market in the national capital today on increased demand by consuming industries amid firming global trend. Trading sentiment in copper remained firm as its prices climbed in New York on speculation, a reviving US economy may boost demand for the metal.
Copper futures for December delivery rose 0.5 per cent to 2.9705 dollar a pound on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Marketmen said besides firming global trend, increased demand by consuming industries led to rise in copper prices.
In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap remained in demand and added another Rs 2 each at Rs 325, Rs 346 and Rs 305 per kg. Following were today’’s quotations Rs per kg: Tin ingot 775, zinc ingot 118.00, nickel plate (4×4) 902-1,012, gun metal scrap 225 bell metal scrap 230, copper wire scrap 325, copper wire bar 346, copper mixed scrap 305.00, Utensil scrap 223, Chadripital 175.
Lead ingot 130, lead imported 134, aluminium ingots 106, sheet cutting 104, aluminium wire scrap 103 and aluminium utensils scrap 98.
